Ceres through the Signs and Houses

Think of the key words for each Zodiac sign and house, then, do the same for Ceres, and we will have a good idea as to how Ceres may manifest itself in the signs and houses. Ceres projects nurturing, love, mothering, parenting, grief, despair, depression, love and care of the homeland, the earth, agriculture, gardening foodstuff, nutrition, the Initiation process through childbirth, death, dying and resurrection, and the mysteries behind the hidden veil.

Aries or 1st House

Ceres will be an obvious part of the personality, initiating and promoting self nurturance and caring for others. Independent, assertive, self starter, action orientated, physical activity, the grief work of Ceres may be connected to the self, through health, appearance, personality, or projection to partner could occur, or may attract a challenging partner or relationship.

Taurus or 2nd House

They will enjoy a day at the spa, and/or with a beautician. Loss and grief work connected to possessions, values, self worth, loss of earning ability, addiction to food and other eating disorders. This placement needs to learn relax and have some fun.

Gemini or 3rd House

Communication is important, giving, receiving and collecting data and information so they may share it with others. They like to communicate to others and public relations may be their niche, at least in the local community. Possibly educators or those who like to be educated. They need to feel competent when communicating with others. Short distance travel, cab and bus drivers, postman, real estate agents. They may help others by working with their hands, the local mechanic, painter, musician or secretary. This placement may also have the responsibility of caring for their siblings; they could be the local neighborhood babysitter, and enjoy nurturing others in their community. Grief work may include siblings, painful communication, lack of education, trouble with transportation and accidents.

Cancer or 4th House

The home and /or family will be important to these people. They are sentimental and emotional finding nurturance in their own home, caring and cooking for others, performing domestic activities.
There can be an interest in real estate, land, mining, geology or gemology.
Early childhood family life will play an important role on how they handle their emotions and nurture others. They may care for others’ in their home, or become home care workers, midwifes, and be highly conscious of parenting. Grief work will involve the home, early childhood, the mother or father, mood disorders, and genetic family karma; sometimes a medical condition.

Leo or 5th House

Here, Ceres will love to generously nurture their loved ones and children, by finding ways to be creative, have fun, and enjoy sports and hobbies. They can teach others how to find the inner muse and creative spark! This would be a great placement for a children’s art teacher or writer…Harry Potter maybe? They will feel nurtured by receiving attention and extra special loving gestures from those who care about them. They will enjoy traveling in style and comfort.
Their grief issues may come from failed investment strategies, too much gambling, money shared with their friends, partners, conflicting values, love
affairs and rebellious teenagers. There could be a custody battle over children or

child support. This may be where the story of Ceres, Persephone and Pluto began.

Virgo or 6th House

Serving others is what Ceres likes to do here…and they enjoy working. You will nurture your co-workers or your company may nature you. These people are perfectionists and often have technical and organizational skills. Health care workers, dieticians, nutrition, health food and vitamins, herbology, and medical personnel and those who work with pets, veterinarians, the SPCA, as a matter of fact any service industry will find itself at home here. Virgo is the sign for fashion and design, sewing, handiwork and restaurants. You could feel nurtured by fashion, food, and health awareness, by serving others, your co-workers, your pets….is a big one, and we have all heard how they give us unconditional love! And pet lovers love to lavish their affection on their companions. Grief and loss will be connected to issues of the 6th house and Virgo, namely, health, illness, food safety, hygiene, work, pets, perfectionism and loneliness.

Libra or 7th House

Ceres loves to give and care for others with this placement in relationships, partnerships and public relations work. But needs to watch that giving is not ‘over the top’ so to speak. Relationships don’t work well if only one partner is rowing the boat. Resentments and a co-dependant relationship could develop.
Here, Ceres’ is looking for pleasant, loving, harmonious relationships. The mother may have, in fact, modeled this through the family dynamics.
This is a good placement for those who work with the public as there is a genuine interest in nurturing others in a diplomatic and graceful way. Grief issues could include loss of partner or business, disharmony, extreme dislike of rude manners or language, a power struggle for identity.

Scorpio or 8th House

Ceres here may be nurtured by the stability of the mother-child bonding relationship as well as other meaningful close encounters, especially powerful emotional or sexual encounters. The partner’s money and investment income, responsible decision making regarding financial well being. Inheritance, contribution to environmental issues, recycling, investigating hidden information, and the mysteries of life and death. Nurturing received through a healthily sexual relationship. Working with the dying, hospice and chaplaincy work, doctors, childbirth and midwifery.

Grief work with money, inheritance, (especially with siblings), loss or death of those we love and care for, child maintenance, alimony payments, divorce, sexual dysfunction, power struggles, obsessive behavior.

Sagittarius or 9th House

A love of adventure, the outdoors and concern for the environment and our animal kingdom. Ceres here may take on a project such as feeding the hungry, involvement in social issues, ‘saving the whales or polar bears’ Persons on a missionary path, spiritual guru’s and teachers, healers working or volunteering for the social order. (E.g. Mother Teresa, Princess Dianna)Nurturing will come through teaching or preaching about humanity’s evolutionally path in terms of our environment, diverse cultures and religious traditions, as well as the love of travel. These people may feel nurtured by acquiring knowledge and wisdom and teach others how to explore their inner and outer worlds, developing their own philosophy and spirituality. Grief work may come through the realization that all cannot be saved. Issues may include frustration and acceptance of foreign countries, cultures, traditions and religions, our sick and starving populations, the animals at risk due to mans aggressive nature and the challenging weather patterns.

Capricorn or 10th House

In order to feel secure and nurtured, persons with this placement need to feel in control, organized, and know where they are going, they don’t like surprises. We can count on them to make responsible choices and decisions. Ceres in the 10th will want to help organize, and teach you the process of goal setting and help you understand that success comes from discipline and perseverance. No get rich quick schemes here! They may be a bit too controlling too! One of your parents or a mentor embodied this energy and encouraged your career path.
This placement will want to help maintain the ‘status quo ‘at a leadership
position, while developing systems which define responsibly, structure, organization and focus to reach a common goal. This can be the placement for a politician or high official that is able to reach the masses with the message of care and respect for whatever their mission is. Remember, Ceres rules our agriculture, farmland, crop circles… (Maybe that is her speaking to us through the ground or from the sky!). This position will be concerned about the health and welfare of the country, our values, and government polices in reference to‘re- building our new earth’; a Plutonic energy must also be involved for the regeneration and rebirth process. Because it is the 10th house and therefore the zenith position, it is closer to the heavens suggesting concern for the air we breathe, and atmospheric conditions. Aquarius or the 11th House

From an esoteric viewpoint this is the house of the ‘world server’, therefore you may have a mission to help the masses in a humanitarian way. Persons with this placement love the world and look at our global community as all are friends, bothers, or sisters. There are no boarders. Remember the song by John Lennon, ‘Imagine ‘Imagine all the people loving everyone….
We care and nurture our friends and are nurtured by them as well. All 12 step groups embody this archetype, the challenge loss, and then returning to a state of well being, while friends in the support group nurture and care for you. In addition, this placement would most likely include single parenting groups, adoption, foster parents, orphanages, or those who work in community group homes for disadvantaged children and youth. Ceres here may rebel against the social structure and want to see change, bringing in new innovative ideas, inventions, and to work to bring about positive change for our future. They can be activists and will let their ideas be known through the use the written word, newspapers, public speaking and books. Grief issues involves friend, groups, and rebelliousness, the rebel without a cause syndrome, adoption issues and our global community.

Pisces or the 12th House
When Ceres is in the 12th house you will want to help the disadvantaged through charitable organizations, volunteering, fund raising, and working in large institutions or behind the scenes. Psychological and karmic issues regarding the mother, and/or your family of origin may be repressed and need healing. You may nurture yourself by spending time alone, enjoying a day at the spa, or creating your own spa atmosphere at home. Spending time by the water will be calming for you, sailing, spiritual retreats, and quiet moments alone are important to your well being. This is also the house of fantasy and imagination, therefore artistic inspiration and poety may flow through you. Dreams of how you wish you were nurtured, or how you would like to see the world. This is a good placement for nurses or those in the caring fields, where you care for and may even quietly support those in need. Addiction counselors, recovery houses, and organizations such as the Salvation Army would be a good example of Ceres in the 12th house. Psychological imbalance and grief are experienced due to lack of love, choosing partners that are not able to nurture and care for us, inability to have children, illness of self, addiction issues, parents, siblings, spouse, and insufficient nurturing in your formative childhood years.

The Secrets of The Mystical Path

 Is time speeding up or what? I can’t figure out why the days, months and years are flying by so quickly. Happy spring has sprung and soon we will celebrate the summer solstice of 2010.  We do have a busy time ahead with the planetary line up… Change is the word that fits this evolutionary time.

May 27^th – Uranus enters Aries – science and global reform, rebellion against the existing paradigm, challenge to set a new template of values for generations to come.

June 5^th – Jupiter enters Aries – action and leadership towards social issues, religion, philosophy and higher education.

June 8^th – Jupiter is conjunct Uranus – opportunities and breakthroughs in science and religion, a new global philosophy, new thought religions flourish. A change of mind in the global consciousness.

June 21 – Summer Solstice; the moon enters Scorpio as we contemplate a time of transformation, and ‘owning’ our personal power. ‘Take control of your life’ is the phrase that comes to mind; at a personal level and global level, humanity is demanding change. A time to step into our individual power versus control from others. What is it that we really want, where do we fit into the big picture?

June 26^th – Lunar Eclipse at 4 – 5° Capricorn – Eclipses are known to bring events such as earthquakes, volcano eruptions, and flooding. This looks like a time of Karmic earthly changes. The Sabian Symbols speak of “a common feeling response to a specific situation may be implied. The main emphasis is on Group Activity in circumstances implying a need for change.”

July 11^{th –} Solar Eclipse at 19.24° Cancer, moon is conjunct the Sun at 12:40pm

This Sabian symbol is described as “A Priest Performing a Marriage Ceremony, the need for interpersonal relationships”. Perhaps the meaning of this symbol speaks of a marriage of two systems, whether it is persons, values, countries, or ideas. At a higher vibration we see this degree in association with the alchemical marriage of the male and female within, the joining of the two hemispheres of the brain… unity with all there is. Think back to 1993, when Uranus was conjunct Neptune at 19° Capricorn; what was happening for you at this time? Now is the opportunity to move into a higher vibrational field and create resonance with the one mind of the universe.

Our astrology students will be writing their CAAE exams on May 15^th. These exams require focus and flow; this is a time to connect with our astrological muse!   The level 1 exam is 3 hours in duration, and levels 2 and 3 is 6 hours! So you can imagine the preparation and time required to study and comprehend the vast technical knowledge and coherence required to master the art of astrology…..I call it  BRAIN GYM!

On May 13th - Dawn will give us an overview of the upcoming transits and important events leading up to the Mayan shift of 2012. We will see how the brightest star in the Pleiades, ‘Alcyone’ (the central spiritual sun of our galaxy) and the photon (light) band is a major influence in the eclipses of 2012. This is a time of opportunity to receive the magnetic field of light and ‘download’ from galactic center. Are we ready to receive and move into the field of multi-dimensional reality?  In addition, we will have a special guest, Marguerite Paquin who has authored the Manual for the Soul, a comprehensive body of knowledge of the ancient Mayans. June 9th – Our past vice president Kay Meierbachtol will present a lecture on the structure of the Vedic system, the zodiac, and the Nakshatra’s (mansions of the moon). The Nakshatra’s reveal the character and emotional traits of the personality.  If you are a serious student of astrology, this is a huge part of interpreting a chart for both western and eastern systems of astrology. Kay has an extensive background in both Vedic and Western astrology, psychotherapy and Jin Shin Do acupressure.

 July – August – We will take a break for the summer and enjoy the sun’s rays.

September 9th, 10th, 11th – Coming back this fall we have a great 3 day venue and workshop lined up for you with Kelly Surtees.  Kelly specializes in using astrological cycles to help time your life – and has just moved to Toronto, ON from her home town of Sydney Australia.  The topics are as follows:

Thursday: A Deeper Look At Aspects -Where did aspect theory come from? What are the ways to enhance the information available within each aspect?

Friday: ‘The Importance of Light’ – How the planets gain influence in the chart based on how visible they are or aren’t at birth. Have you considered how the Moon in Taurus varies in strength/influence/manifestation according to Moon phase? Or the time of day one was born? Are you aware of the circumstances in which the Moon sign can be more dominant than the Sun sign?

Saturday: ‘Progressions and Predictions’ – After transits, progressions are the most commonly used predictive tool in modern astrology. We’ll look at where this 500+ yr old predictive tool came from and what we’re really supposed to do with them.

Personally I felt something was coming, as the universe has a way of communicating with me, and I have learned to pay attention. For example on the first occasion I was out and about in my daily life, when I overheard someone say “Are you ready for the big one?” They were not directly talking to me, but I heard this at the precise moment I walked by. On the second occasion I had turned on the TV and heard the newscaster say “Are you ready for the big one?”  I felt the vibration of the words in my body, so I knew to pay attention. (I think the newscaster was talking about the upcoming Olympics which were soon to begin in my hometown of Vancouver, BC, Canada) I felt concerned but did not know really what to do, except ‘stay tuned’ This had happened previously, a few nights before the Indonesia Quake and Tsunami in 2004,  I was awakened by the shaking of my bed, and thought I was experiencing an earthquake. After a few moments I was relieved to know I had been experiencing a lucid dream or some future event.  I know there are many of us that have these kinds of experiences, but I would sure like to ‘receive’ the latitude and longitude of where these quakes and disasters are about to happen.

The eclipse of January 14 and 15^th certainly carried a lot of ‘punch’, as it displayed itself as a triple conjunction in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. The Sun, Moon and Venus at 25 degrees of Capricorn carried the authority of the day and either rose or set with the fixed star Canopus. The Sabian symbol for 26 degrees of Capricorn speaks of the soul of nature, the world soul, known as ‘anima mundi’, refers to occult energy. (Sabian Symbols, Rudhyar, Page 245) The nodes were in the cardinal Capricorn/Cancer axis. Then to add to the mix there was another triple conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in the fixed air sign of Aquarius placed in the 8th house.

The actual earthquake chart itself is quite the combination of heavy aspects and numerical significance. For those of you who are reading this article and do not know me, I have discovered a system to further interpret a chart by reading the numbers in the chart which is  a combination of Pythagorean style numerology and Kabbalah geometria. In addition I am also attuned to the Sabian Symbols developed by Mark Edmond Jones, and the significance of the Fixed Stars. Does that sound like a lot of details? Well, it is, but I feel these are all excellent tools to really get to the heart of the chart. My students and I have been delineating mundane charts by this methodology, and it is so amazing to see how numerology, Sabian symbols and other interpretations on degrees of the zodiac are assigned. Further, to watch the fixed stars at play make for a very revealing and convincing research project.

Haiti Earthquake

With the ascendant at 14°57 Cancer, this number tells me there will be sorrow and sadness, as the #57 in the tarot signifies the 3 of swords. (Note: all numbers have a polarity, positive and negative vibrations; however this #57 did create sorrow. But one day this # 57 will reverse it polarity and become the #75)

 The14^th degree of Aries in the natural chart, being the ascendant point, can refer to one who may not live to old age. (The Degrees of the Zodiac, p. Donna Walter Henson.) Further, the 14th degree of Cancer is conjunct the fixed star Canopus which has both positive and negative associations. It can destroy what it has created, Brady’s quotes it is ‘finding new pathways or the breaking of new ground“. Brady’s Fixed Stars, p.68, Canopus also rose and set at 25 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn, (therefore conjunct Venus and the Sun) it culminates at 5 Cancer. Canopus was called ‘the heavy weighing Canopus’ as it was described as the heavy weight on the end of a plumb line which defined the south and north poles. If the plum line moved with Canopus as its weight, it would logically cause the pole alignment to shift, or in this case the tectonic plates. So here we are… all ready in the Mayan Shift of 2012! Just an added note, I also believe the Mayan shift represents not only many earth changes, but a polarity shift of our consciousness. I see this as positive and propose it will change our values, beliefs, our DNA, and our destiny to a brighter future. We are moving towards this now. However, that is not to say it will be a trouble free transition.

The Moon, Pluto and Mercury R were placed in the 6^th house of Virgo, the sign on the cusp was 17 Sagittarius, (meaning ‘rebirth’ in Dane Rudhyar Sabian Symbols, page 220,) and when placed on this Virgo cusp, means and /or symbolizes a ‘Volcanic Eruption’, or explosion (Sabian symbols page 161. Donna Henson quotes, Jupiter here, death by judicial degree, page38

The moon is at 26 degrees of Sagittarius, also known as Galactic Center which is a powerful center of gravity in our universe and acts as a sun to our own sun. With this much gravity pull and Canopus on the ascendant it makes logical sense that this enormous amount of energy being transmitted to earth would cause some kind of shift.

Further, the fixed star Algol is positioned at 26 degrees of Taurus and is quincunx the Moon and galactic center. (Although not in the chart it is still there in the universe)

Algol at 26 degrees of Taurus, and is often said to be the most violent star in the heavens, it refers to ‘piled up corpses’ and mass destruction And if we were watching the news this is what we unfortunately saw. I would like to note here that according to B. Brady, it also known to be a passionate star…Male energy or female

Algol is a fixed star known by the Arabs as Al-Ghul, which means “The Ghoul” or “Demon Star”, and the Chinese as Tseih She, which means “Piled-up Corpses” and mass destruction.

Here is a list of other planetary aspects; this is quite the line up!

Moon at galactic center – 26 Sag is squaring Uranus in Pisces at 23’27.”

Moon at galactic center is quincunx the fixed star Algol (as above) an extremely volatile combination.

Moon at galactic center was conjunct Pluto, an out of sign conjunction with a 7’6” orb.

Moon is quincunx the South Node at 21 Cancer.

A Yod configuration emphasizing the Moon, Jupiter, and the South Node as the apex, with an orb is 5 degrees. The 21^st degree of cancer is conjunct the  Twins of Gemini, Castor and Pollux, which repre

sents polarity, push, pull, up, down,  positive, negative, perhaps the tectonic plates moving and shifting pulling in 2 opposite directions. As our earth is designed with a polarity matrix, it makes perfect logical sense to me that our planet must have the two fixed stars of Caster and Pollux on the ascendant or conjunct the ascendant. . According to the Thema Mundi, the ancient world chart, it shows 15 degrees of Cancer on the ascendant, which would in fact be conjunct Castor /Pollux, the two stars of opposites. Moreover, with Canopus as the plumb line for the poles we can reason that something fundamental to the earth’s matrix had occurred.

The Thema Mundi (World Theme, with ‘theme’ being a word that also means chart) was a mythical horoscope used in Hellenistic astrology that shows the supposed positions of the seven visible planets (including the Sun and Moon) at the beginning of the universe. It purports to exemplify the logic behind the sign rulerships, exaltations, and meanings of the aspects, among other things. (Wikipedia)

Next, there was a T-Square involving Saturn at 4 Libra opposite the Midheaven at 8 Aries, and Pluto (3 degrees Capricorn) Conjunct Mercury (6 degrees Capricorn)

Further the Pluto conjunct Mercury is square Saturn in Libra at 4 degrees Libra – near the IC (4TH House cusp) Saturn rules Capricorn an earth sign and rules structure, which was destroyed by the Moon Pluto conjunction which was inconjunct Algol ( 7 degree orb)

Mars was Retrograde at 16 Leo and quincunx the north node in Capricorn at 25, the north node is trine the difficult star Algol.

Mercury was Retrograde at 6 Capricorn conjunct Pluto, an aspect related to Atomic Physics.

Saturn was about to station retrograde at 4 Libra which squared Pluto and Mercury R. an unpredictable time as any planet about to change direction is unsteady.

In conclusion we can see how heavily weighted this combination of the fixed stars were affecting our planet.

   Canopus, the heavy weight affecting our north and south poles, Castor and Pollux the twin stars of polarity, pushing and pulling away from each other, and lastly, Algol, the star of mass destruction was quincunx to the moon and galactic center!

 And I think to myself…if only there was a way to predict exactly when and where these disasters will occur. Maybe someday, somehow.

The Response and the Heart of the Matter

Venus conjuncts the eclipse – money and love pours in, Venus was in Capricorn therefore global responsibility was established to help others. In the sidereal chart of this quake, Venus was in Sagittarius where we witnessed the generosity, concern, love and compassion of humanity.

The triple conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron (the wounded healer) in Aquarius (in the8^th house of money, death, transformation) are planets that offer compassion, generosity and healing. Aquarius is the sign for humanity and we have seen how the world has responded with heartfelt compassion. This display of Aquarian planets is sextile the moon (caring, nurturing) in the 6^th house of health and service. Through this aspect we witnessed the best of our fellow man; Aquarius is the sign of the ‘World Server, those who make sacrifices to be of ‘service to mankind.’

Miracle’s occurred; lives were pulled from the rubble after being buried for many days.

This disaster shows us how our global community can work together as one and care for our fellow human beings, and all sentient beings.

Another Observation and Research Project

For years I have been watching how the Sidereal and Tropical Zodiacs interact as I have experienced this phenomenon through my own chart during times of transitions. If we take the Sidereal Chart of this quake and wrap it around the Tropical chart, there are 3 close conjunctions joining of the 2 systems, which take on the shape of the Yod … I see it as two time lines meeting, touching and then continuing on their journey. When these time lines meet there is something that occurs, perhaps the bending of time and most definitely a significant event. This is really what the end times and 2012 are all about, the Mayan Time Line (the no- time- space continuum, also known as the 13-20 33 vibration) and our linear time line. Here, in the diagram of the sidereal and tropical zodiacs we can see how these time lines can interact.

I have been researching this phenomena for several years and when also applied with natal charts you can see where there may be new directions created in life, the joining or conjunctions of these 2 zodiac time systems seems to give an opportunity for healing, experiences of altered states of consciousness, and could possibly be related, string theory and the reality of parallel universes.

Astrology Classes   2010
